Super Star : For the Small screen or the Silver screen ?!
NoImage

By Observer

Super star Mahesh...A matinee idol with a fan base who supported him through thick and thin... many of them, hardcore fans of Super Star Krishna Garu.

A common movie goer becomes a fan of a particular star by identifying himself with the character played by the star in a movie...All that they expect from their "hero" is a film in regular intervals...Everything was hunky dory till 2007 and there was atleast a film releasing in every calender year of the super star...Irrespective of the success range of the movie his fan base kept swelling and they enjoyed the presence of their star on the silver screen...

After the unexpected debacle Athidi(2007) mahesh took quiet a long break to facilitate a project with trivikram srinivas who delivered a decent hit Athadu(2005) with the star...Things started going down the spiral the moment this project was conceptualized...Trivikram Srinivias was tied up with his personal commitments in the earlier stages and once the regular shoot(you might as well call it irregular) of the movie started, the producer got tied up with various financial issues owing to the never heard of delay with respect to this project and another project he undertook...It took three long years and many legal battles to release the film Mahesh Khaleja (2010).The film did suffer due to the long delays in making and many compromises that had to be made which again dates back to the unusual delays. Khaleja Finally ended up as a big disaster to all parties concerned and even hardcore fans are a disappointed lot with it.

At the time of the audio release of Mahesh Khaleja the super star announced that he will make sure that he will act in a minimum of 2 movies per calender year and try to quench the undying thirst of a die hard fan...Sadly the reality is turning out to be different...He went ahead and agreed to do a film with Srinu Vaitla in the month of June 2010...This movie went onto sets in the month of September that very year...Srinu Vaitla is identified as a meticulous director who wraps up a film in a very short period even when he is working with a big star...This movie was planned for an early 2011 release but was pushed to summer of 2011 owing to a tollywood shut down in december 2010...Now the movie is scheduled to release in the month of july or august...that is 2 to 3 months after summer, the plan B of the producer...

Earlier the delay of Mahesh Khaleja  was attributed to the rather sluggish working style of trivikram srinivas and it was expected that the matinee idol will live up to the promise made to his fans,ie; 2 movies per year starting with  srinu vaitla directed Dookudu and followed by another project. But the reality is turning out to be something radically different...We can more or less safely say that super star will have only 1 release this year...

The superstar is lagging behind his contemporaries in making films at regular intervals...Lets take into consideration the work being done by other heroes at the same time...Pavan Kalyan, who was notoriously famous for his never ending delay in movie making started his Theenmaar  after Dookudu was launched and his movie is ready for release in the month of april...Ravi Teja whose film Mirapakaay released for Sankrathi will be having 2 releases in this summer...NTR Jr,whose Brindaavanam released a week after Mahesh Khaleja will be having a release this March end and will in all probability have another release in close vicinity of Dhookudu.

So where is the fault...Is it with the directors who work with the superstar ?? Is it with the superstar himself ?? Is superstar more inclined to act in advertisements witch take 3-4 days to shoot and will be on air for 30 seconds max ?? Considering the number of ads that are coming his way every other day,his followers might say "Our star is commanding the market dynamics"...Well,the reality is "Superstar is fast losing ground to his compatriot competitors with his lethargic pace at work"...Adverts and brand associations are a result of your success in your own field...Not the other way round...The star seems to be losing focus on the field where he needs to concentrate the most... Films.

To conclude the topic...Sachin and Dhoni appear in countless number of commercials every day...But they do play cricket regularly as well.

Intha chinna logic eppudu ardham cheskuntaro mana Superstar garu !!.
