Most Exhibitors avoid Ticket Rate Hike for now
Even though the Govt of AP has allowed a hike in Ticket Prices of Single Screens in Major Cities, Exhibitors barring Hyderabad city chose not to implement the hike immediately. Major Towns in Telangana like Warangal, Karimnagar etc are still continuing with a Highest Price of 50/-. Even in Hyderabad City, only Theatres operated by Suresh Syndicate & Indra Films have implemented the Hike.
In Andhra region, Exhibitors of Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore etc have decided to wait and watch before implementing the hike. Most of the Exhibitors are of the opinion that, the Hike will efect the Occupancies once the initial 2-3 weeks run of the film is complete. More interestingly they are thinking of bringing up a proposal to use the allowed Ticket Rate hike only for first 2 weeks and continuing with the old prices for the rest of the run of a film.
As for the Ceeded Region, Exhibitors here never followed the rules of Government and Flat Rates of their choice in the initial Weeks is a routine norm for every Big Release. But Exhibitors in Major Cities like Tirupati & Kurnool may go in for a hike starting from 'Dhookudu'.
Although there's an upper limit on Ticket Prices, there are a few theatres like Vizag Jagadamba & Ongole Gorantla etc., which charge even higher with special permissions from District Collectors. Big towns in Vizag, East & West Godavari area's already charge 60/- for high class.
Ticket Rate Hike although allowed is by and large avoided barring Hyderabad city. It is clear that only the Big Producers who wanted the hike and not Exhibitors!.
