1 Nenokkadine : Is the Deal Worth It for Eros?

Much awaited big budget release of Mahesh, 1 Nenokkadine is in the news from yesterday about having grabbed by well know Bollywood Studio, Eros International. Although we are yet to get any confirmation about the price or nature of the deal it was believed to be over 70Cr for an all inclusive Theatrical, Satellite & all other rights if any. It has to be agreed that it was a never before deal and the big 70Cr sum is an unheard of amount so far in any Indian film Industry apart from Bollywood ( that too for a few biggie`s only ). Can Eros be able to recover the same?. Read on.

First things first, 14 Reels has already got NRA deals to the tune of 20Cr on the film before entering into agreement with Eros. Satellite ( Tel+Tam+Mal ) have been sold to Sun Network for a whopping 11Cr. Vizag & Guntur areas NRA deals amount to over 9Cr which makes it 20Cr. It is believed that this already agreed deals will still be honoured by Eros.

Eros is expetced to recover close to 15Cr from Non-Telugu theatricals as Hindi Dub satellite & Tam+Mal Dub Theatrical can easily fetch over 2Cr. This & Telugu Audio & DVD added to Sun Network deal makes it close to 15Cr which means Telugu Theatrical need to cross 55Cr mark for Eros to be safe.

Now look into the Telugu Theatricals, 9Cr is already in Vizag & Guntur. Eros after Local Distributors commissions & PP should recover 46Cr+. Mahesh`s last Sankranthi release Seethama.. popularly called as SVSC ( WW 51Cr Share) did 43.6Cr in the remaining areas ( with out Vizag & Guntur ). It has another sub 45Cr ( WW Share ) film in Naayak competing with it for the festival same as the upcoming Yevadu.

Considering the recent ticket hike is contributed to a hike in Shares in all areas by 15-20%, Eros will easily be safe if 1 Nenokkadine performs on the lines of SVSC if not a Big Blockbuster. Any thing above the SVSC range will prove to be a profit for them. All this only if 1 Nenokkadine gets at least average word of mouth and lives upto SVSC`s range at the Boxoffice.

Considering the big budget of over 60Cr, 14 Reels must have felt they are carrying too much risk on their shoulders and Eros should also have done their math and staked their bets expecting a positive result if not a Blockbuster.
