Reliance & Disney are set to join hands to set up India’s largest media empire, encompassing Satellite TV, OTT Streaming, Movies and Sports. A mega-merger deal between Star India and Viacom18 is expected to be announced this Week. Reliance may own 61% of the proposed new company, with Disney holding 33% and Bodhi Tree the remaining 6%. Paramount Global, a shareholder in Viacom18, is set to exit with Reliance buying its stake.

Netflix & Amazon were the only OTT options for Big Telugu & Tamil Projects but now Jio-Hotstar is expected to join the race as the 3rd strong contender whereas the impact may be limited on other industries. But TV Rights especially in Hindi & Kannada will crash since both Star & Colors have strong presence whereas Telugu & Malayalam will see No impact at all with Colors having not TV Channels.
