Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi -
A Lighthearted Comedy That Rides on Comic Support!
Rating - 2.5/5
Story:
Rama Satyanarayana (Ravi Teja) is a married man who enters into a short-term relationship with Manasa Shetty (Ashika Ranganath) while in Spain. While it is over for him, it is not so for Manasa, who is now in India and wants to explore a situationship with him. What happens when she comes to know that Rama has been married to Balamani (Dimple Hayathi)? Does domestic peace erode? How does Rama deal with the fallouts of his fling? That`s what the story is about.
Performances:
1. Ravi Teja: He gets to do romance, comedy, some unserious action, and occasional goofy comedy, too. He doesn`t take himself too seriously in the film, and that shows in his effortless acting.
2. The women: Ashika is attractive and is believable in the role of a businesswomen. Her screen presence in Bella Bella is nice. Dimple was supposed to be understated to make her Managing Director-cum-wife part feel at home. But she is somewhat stiff.
3. The comedians: Satya`s character comes with three shades, and he is good although this is not his best one in recent times. Sunil is less hilarious but is placed in more comical situations; his character is not a total caricature. Vennela Kishore, as the hero`s personal assistant, doesn`t get to overdo his expressions; he is also the least idiosyncratic of them all. Muralidhar Goud, as a psychologist doling out relationship advice, is dull. Ajay Ghosh and Getup Srinu are lifeless. Master Rohan of #90`s - A Middle Class Biopic fame plays a character that would have worked better in an Anil Ravipudi movie.
4. Others: Tarak Ponnappa`s character is the weakest among the important ones. And the poor writing reflects in his below-average performance.
Technical Departments:
1. The songs: Bheems Ceciroleo does justice to the hero whose Dhamaka gave his career a new lease of life in 2022. His presence might have made director Kishore Tirumala write the pub episode filled with remixes.
2. The cinematography: This is Prasad Murella`s ninth movie with Ravi Teja. The visuals are decent in the Spain episodes. The rest of the movie involves regular locations, involving minimal effort.
3. Production values: SLV Cinemas makes the family entertainer on a decent scale.
Merits:
1. The humour starts landing after a bare-bones start. The scenes involving Ravi Teja, Sunil and Vennela Kishore carry the first half on their shoulders.
2. Even though the husband-wife-GF trope is not new, the film is entertaining thanks to the idiosyncratic situations it comes up with. Without the characters played by three comedians, the proceedings would have been dull.
3. Ravi Teja acts like he is not under pressure to punch above his weight in action sequences. The family entertainment zone serves him well.
Demerits:
1. The film treats a complex question in a casual way. BMW was not expected to touch on ethics, but at least the relationship dynamics should have been handled in a mature way in the last 30 minutes.
2. The second half should have involved a couple of weighty scenes between the male lead and the two women in his life.
3. Two or three situations are over-the-top and don`t add much. A key character is a derivative of a prominent character from a well-known Vijay Deverakonda movie. A hotel scene involving him is silly, especially if you don`t get the `sugar in a generator` reference.
Verdict:
Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi works best as a breezy family entertainer that doesn’t overthink its central conflict. Ravi Teja’s relaxed performance and the first-half humour powered by Sunil and Vennela Kishore keep the film watchable.
