ABO Review : 'Chandrika'

`Chandrika` is a boring, Romantic Horror Drama

Story :

A Popular Painter (Karthik Jayaram) buys his Guru`s (Girish Karnad) Bangla and moves with his wife (Srimukhi) to live there. He observes strange changes in his wife`s attitude and the Ghost of Chandrika (Kamna Jethmanli ) starts haunting her. What was the painter`s connection to Chandrika forms the rest.

Performances:

The 3 main leads have been very ordinary and Girish Karnad is adequate.

Technical Departments:

Music: Decent Background Score, but boring songs.

Cinematography: So-so.

Editing: Adequate.

Thrills: Ordinary, hardly scary or surprising.

Analysis :

Chandrika is a poor inspiration of Aaptamithra/Chandramukhi with a similar plot. The film barring for few minutes then and there is pretty poor and fails to engage the audience. For a Horror film, this is neither scary nor thrilling due to its Predictable screenplay and weak Narration. Performances were also ordinary and the songs are too many. It is pathetically slow for a 110 minutes short film. Only bright spot in this is the Background score by Gunvanth.

The film isn`t receiving encouraging reports and might end up as a failure at the Box-office.
