ABO Review : 'Brand Babu'

Brand Babu is a Poor Romantic Family Drama

Story :

A Rich Family are in search of a suitable bride for their Son. The Father-Son duo have a Brand Loving syndrome and they see it as a Status symbol. On the other hand, A Big State Minister has a Beautiful Daughter and she has a `Friend aka Maid`, who is from a poor family. The Brand syndrome Son unknowingly starts a Romantic (Mobile) Chat of sorts with this Maid assuming her to be the Minister`s Daughter. What follows is a Love Triangle confusion and Emotional Family Drama.

Performances:

Sumanth Shailendra, Kannada Lead Actor makes his Telugu Debut and is pretty ordinary. Eesha is probably a bright spot and enacted her parts some what better. Murali Sharma is over the top and is not so likable considering his weird characterization. Poojitha has limited scope and is adequate.

Analysis :

`Brand Babu` tries to explore the Brand Loving syndrome of a Rich Father-Son duo by mixing it with the Romantic Comedy Genre. The film`s concept do seem interesting in the early stages but the repetitive nature of the dialogues and lack of interesting enough narration spoils the fun. `Brand Babu` gets the Love Triangle some what right and has a Decent Pre-Interval but it eventually falters in the 2nd half making it a patience tester waiting for the predictable climax. Maruti`s Writing probably seemed good on paper but the on screen output is far from being any good.

Box-office Verdict : With Worldwide Theatricals at 5 Cr approx and a 3-way clash in opening weekend, this is unlikely to make any impact unless lots of luck goes its way.
