ABO Review : Check

`Check` is a Mediocre, Chess based Jail Thriller!.

Story :

Aditya (Nithin) including 4 other terrorists are given a death sentence. His Reluctant Lawyer Manasa (Rakul Preet Singh) also doubts his innocence. Meanwhile in the Jail, he learns Chess and becomes a champion player. The rest is about his attempts at proving his innocence and escaping death penalty.

Performances:

Nithin comes up with a decent performance but nothing that stands out or elevates the film. Rakul Preet gets an important role and is a decent act as well. Priya has nothing much to do and is adequate. Sai Chand, Murali Sharma and Harshvardhan shine in supporting roles.

Technical Departments:

Music: Decent.

Cinematography: Good.

Editing: Ordinary.

Stunts: Decent.

Analysis :

`Check` is heavily inspired from several Hollywood films and is a concept oriented drama with ample commercial elements. Although it had some promising moments here and there, the film on the whole is a mediocre one with hardly any thrills. It needed a few shocking twists and turns to keep the audiences glued but the director who is more interested in adding commercial elements hasn`t taken proper care of his actual screen-play or editing. The film may work to an extent, but watch at your own risk.
